# Using the command palette

> Open the Hiresweep command palette to start a resume, jump to any page or setting, search your resumes and applications, and change theme or language. Includes every keyboard shortcut.

The command palette is a search box that opens on top of any page. Use it to start something new, go to a page or a settings section, find a resume or an application, and change your theme or language without leaving the keyboard.

## Open and close it

- Press <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> on a Mac or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> on Windows and Linux. Press it again to close.
- Or select **Search or jump to…** at the top of the dashboard sidebar.
- Press <kbd>Esc</kbd> to close it.

Type to filter the list, use the arrow keys to move and press <kbd>Enter</kbd> to choose. Some items open a sub-page, such as **Settings** or **Find a resume…**. To go back, select **Back** or press <kbd>Backspace</kbd> while the search box is empty.

## Actions

| Action | What it does |
| ----------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Import PDF or Word** | Opens the import dialog. See [Importing resumes](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/importing-resumes). |
| **Draft with the agent**| Opens a new agent chat that drafts a resume with you. See [Using the AI agent](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/using-ai-agent). |
| **Start blank** | Creates an empty resume. See [Creating your first resume](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/creating-your-first-resume). |
| **New chat** | Opens a new agent chat. |
| **Add job** | Opens the dialog to save a job posting by its link. See [Tracking job applications](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/tracking-job-applications). |
| **Find a resume…** | Lists all your resumes. Choose one to open it in the builder, or select **Create a new resume**. |

If **Draft with the agent** is greyed out with "AI isn't available on this server right now.", try again later.

## Go to…

**Go to…** lists the same pages as the dashboard sidebar: **Overview**, **Discover**, **Applications**, **Resumes**, **Agent**, **Clients** (only for operators, see [Working with clients](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/working-with-clients)) and **Settings**.

**Settings** opens a sub-page with every settings section, such as **Profile**, **Sign-in & security**, **Plan & usage** and **API keys**. You can find a section by other words too: "billing" finds **Plan & usage**, "2FA" or "password" finds **Sign-in & security** and "MCP" finds **Connected assistants**.

## Search your resumes and applications

Type at least two characters on the first page of the palette. Above the commands, you see up to eight matching **Applications** (by company, job title or status) and up to eight matching **Resumes** (by name). Resumes the agent is working on are tagged **Agent draft**.

## Preferences

- **Change theme to…** offers **Light theme** and **Dark theme**.
- **Change language to…** lists every app language. Choosing one reloads the page.

See [Setting preferences](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/setting-preferences).

## Keyboard shortcuts

On Windows and Linux, use <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> wherever the table shows <kbd>⌘</kbd>.

### Everywhere

| Shortcut | What it does |
| ---------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> | Open or close the command palette. |
| <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>.</kbd> | Show or hide the side card on dashboard pages that have one. |

### Resume builder

| Shortcut | What it does |
| ---------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>{"\\"}</kbd> | Show or hide the Edit panel. Not available on phones. |
| <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>.</kbd> | Show or hide the Agent card. |
| <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>S</kbd> | Save now. Hiresweep saves on its own as you type; the save status in the header confirms it. |
| <kbd>Esc</kbd> | In an open section, go back to the list of sections. On a card that floats over the canvas, close it. |
| <kbd>A</kbd> | Accept the agent suggestion your focus is on. |
| <kbd>S</kbd> | Skip the agent suggestion your focus is on. |
| <kbd>Enter</kbd> | Send your message in the Agent card. <kbd>Shift</kbd> <kbd>Enter</kbd> starts a new line. |

<kbd>A</kbd> and <kbd>S</kbd> work only while a suggestion card or one of its buttons has focus, never while you are typing. See [Using AI in the builder](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/using-ai-in-the-builder).

### Agent

| Shortcut | What it does |
| ----------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>Shift</kbd> <kbd>O</kbd> | Start a new chat. Works on any agent page. |
| <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>.</kbd> | Show or hide the resume card next to a chat. |
| <kbd>Enter</kbd> | Send your message. <kbd>Shift</kbd> <kbd>Enter</kbd> starts a new line. |

<kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>Shift</kbd> <kbd>O</kbd> doesn't fire while you are typing a new request on the agent's start page, so you don't lose what you wrote. In an open chat it does, and your draft waits for you when you come back.

### Discover

In the **One at a time** view of your matches, press <kbd>A</kbd> to add the job, <kbd>D</kbd> to dismiss it and <kbd>S</kbd> to leave it for later. See [Discovering jobs](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/discovering-jobs).
