# Updating your profile

> Change your name, username or email address in Hiresweep, and resend the email verification link.

Your profile holds your name, username and email address. Your name and username appear on public resumes. Your email is how you sign in.

To open it, select **Settings** in the dashboard sidebar, then **Profile** under **Account**. You can also open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and select **Profile**.

## Change your name or username

    In the **Personal details** card, change **Name** or **Username**. A username uses lowercase letters, numbers, dots, hyphens and underscores.

    Select **Save changes**. Select **Cancel** to discard your edits instead.

<Warning>
  Your username is part of every public resume link (`hiresweep.com/your-username/resume-slug`). When you change it,
  links you already shared stop working. Send the new links to anyone who has the old ones.

## Change your email address

Changing your email takes two confirmations, so nobody can move your account to an address you don't control.

    Type the new address in **Email address** and select **Save changes**. The field shows "We sent a confirmation link to" your current address.

  <Step title="Approve from your current address">
    Open the **Confirm your email change** message in your current inbox and select **Approve Change**.

  <Step title="Verify the new address">
    Hiresweep then sends a verification link to the new address. Open it. The new address becomes your email and you sign in with it from now on.

<Tip>
  If either message doesn't arrive, check your spam folder. If you no longer have access to your current address, you
  can't approve the change.

## Verify your email

Under **Email address**, the profile shows **Verified** or **Unverified**. If your email is unverified, select **Resend verification email** and open the link in the new message. The link changes to "Sent. Check your inbox." once the email is on its way.
