# Managing resumes from the dashboard

> Find, filter, sort, rename, duplicate, lock and delete resumes on the Resumes page.

**Resumes** in the dashboard sidebar lists every resume in your account. Keep one per role, market or language, and use tags to tell them apart. The subtitle shows how many you have.

<Info>
  If you work for clients, the page title reads **Resumes for** the client's name, and it lists that client's resumes.
  See [Working with clients](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/working-with-clients).
</Info>

## What's on the page

- **New** in the header starts a resume. See [Creating your first resume](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/creating-your-first-resume).
- **Pick up where you left off** appears once you have more than three resumes. It shows the resume you edited last, with **Continue editing**, **Tailor for a new job** and its latest Resume check score.
- **All resumes** is your library, with the tools described below.
- **Public resumes** appears beside the library when at least one resume is public. It shows each public resume's views and downloads. See [Sharing your resume publicly](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/sharing-your-resume-publicly).

## List and grid views

The library opens as a list. Use the **List view** and **Grid view** buttons at the end of the toolbar to switch.

| View | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| **List** | One row per resume, with **Name**, **Target**, **Tags**, **Status**, **Edited** and **Actions**. |
| **Grid** | One card per resume with a thumbnail, plus a **Start another resume** tile. |

The status shows **Public**, **Locked** or **Agent draft** (a working copy the agent made). A resume with a **Tailored for** value shows it as its target, for example "For Staff Engineer".

## Find a resume

| Tool | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Filter by name** | Narrows the library by name. It appears once you have more than six resumes. |
| **Tags** | Shows only resumes with the tags you pick. Each tag shows how many resumes use it. It appears once any resume has a tag. |
| **Sort by** | Orders the library by **Last updated**, **Created** or **Name**. |

If nothing matches, select **Clear filters**.

You can also press <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> from anywhere in the app and type a resume's name, or choose **Find a resume…**. See [Using the command palette](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/using-the-command-palette).

<Tip>
  Tags are the way to group resumes; there are no folders. Use tags for the target role (`frontend`, `product`), the
  market (`uk`, `remote`) or a client.
</Tip>

## Resume actions

Select a row or card to open the resume in the builder. For everything else, open its **…** menu or right-click it. The same actions, except **Open**, are in the builder's **Resume actions** (**…**) menu above the canvas.

| Action | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Open** | Opens the resume in the builder. |
| **Rename and details…** | Changes the name, **Tailored for**, slug and tags. |
| **Duplicate** | Makes a copy you can change without touching the original. |
| **Lock editing** / **Unlock** | Stops or allows changes. |
| **Delete** | Deletes the resume and its public link. |

### Rename and details

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the dialog">
    Choose **Rename and details…** to open **Update Resume**.
  </Step>
  <Step title="Edit the fields">
    Change the **Name**, **Tailored for** (optional, up to 120 characters, shown on the resume's card and row), **Slug** or **Tags**.
  </Step>
  <Step title="Save">
    Select **Save Changes**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  The slug is part of the public link. Editing the name rewrites the slug to match, so a public resume's link changes
  unless you set the slug back before you save.
</Warning>

### Duplicate

**Duplicate Resume** starts with the name plus "(Copy)", a slug made from that name, and the same tags. **Tailored for** isn't copied. From the dashboard you stay on the page; from the builder the copy opens.

A copy's resume language is reset to the language you use Hiresweep in. If the original was in another language, change it back under **Design** > **Page** > **Language**.

Good reasons to duplicate:

- tailoring a resume for one job without changing your main version;
- keeping a short and a long version;
- trying a new template or layout;
- making a version in another language.

### Lock editing

**Lock editing** takes effect at once, with an **Undo** button in the confirmation. A locked resume can't be edited, deleted, renamed or shared differently until you unlock it, but you can still open, export and duplicate it. The builder shows **Locked, read only** next to the resume name.

To change it again, choose **Unlock** on the dashboard or **Unlock editing** in the builder.

### Delete

**Delete** asks you to confirm with **Delete resume**. The resume, its public link and its stored files are removed.

<Warning>
  Deleting can't be undone. If you might need the resume later, download a JSON backup first. See [Exporting your
  resume](https://docs.hiresweep.com/guides/exporting-your-resume).
</Warning>

<Note>
  Hiresweep doesn't keep a version history of resumes. Duplicate a resume or download a JSON backup before large
  changes.
